We’ve been looking forward to creating a Canada Day banner for quite a few years and decided to combine two crafts that Jane is loving these days: watercolour painting and brush lettering.

She used her watercolor paints and brush lettering skills that she’s been practicing since taking this fantastic brush-lettering class by Colleen of Lemon Thistle Blog* (as an aside, this class makes a wonderful and unique gift idea).

With it's 150th birthday just around the corner, we have some beautiful red and white decorating ideas to help you celebrate: free printable brush-lettered banner and watercolour maple leaf art!

You can download the free panels here and assemble them into a festive Canada Day banner. Print as many or few as you’d like to make a super long, or just short banner, or print the pages to half the size to create little mini garlands.

Once printed, cut out the panels (we left a little white rim around ours), attach them to some cotton twine* with a hot glue gun, hang it up and enjoy.

If you’d like to use it outdoors, consider coating each panel on both sides with a water-based sealer, such as Mod Podge acrylic gloss sealer spray* to help it last a little longer.

Canada Day Decorating Ideas: Printable Watercolour Maple Leaves

In addition to the banner, Jane painted maple leaves into a festive Canada Day art piece. You can simply print the image (use photo paper for a more vibrant image*) and frame it. Or cut out each leaf to use as cupcake toppers for your Canada Day BBQ celebration!

To make the red and white cupcake toppers, we cut out each watercolour maple leaf, leaving a little white rim all the way around. We then simply attached a small toothpick to the back of each one with hot glue.

We hope you enjoy these free Canada Day decorating ideas and that the printables help you get into the spirit! We have additional last-minute Canada Day decorating ideas for you as well. And did you see our Canada Day driftwood maple leaf decor idea or our Canada Day painted rocks?
