How to Make an Easy Farmhouse Dollar Tree Bunny Sign

Applying a Crackle Finish

Paint a generous coat of school glue onto the slatted wood plaque. Brush it in one direction for best results. Let dry until TACKY (the glue needs to still be wet for the paint crackle finish to form).

While the glue is still tacky, brush the white chalky paint over it. Allow the paint to air dry, or use an air gun to speed up the drying.

Decoupage the Bunny

Decoupage the paper napkin on to the bunny cutout. First, apply a coat of white paint to the bunny so that the wood finish doesn’t show through the paper.

After the paint is dry, apply a coat of Mod Podge over the bunny and then press 1-ply layer of the paper napkin over top of the bunny. Trim away the excess paper.

Position the bunny on to the plaque and glue in place with some hot glue.

Make a messy bow with the ribbon pieces and cover the cinched center with a button. Glue the messy bow to the sign.

Lastly, thread a piece of twine with wood beads and secure to the top of the hanger for the sign.

Tips, Variations & Troubleshooting

For a Neutral Farmhouse Bunny Sign

Stick with white, ivory, or soft beige tones. Add light distressing and natural twine for that classic farmhouse Easter décor look.

For a Black and White Modern Farmhouse Version

Paint the bunny matte white and add bold black lettering. A buffalo check ribbon bow gives it a modern farmhouse twist.

For a Rustic Wood Look

Skip full coverage paint. Lightly dry-brush white over the natural wood so some grain shows through for a rustic spring bunny sign.
