DIY Wood Block Apple Decor

Ingredients
  

  • Set of 3 wood blocks 4x4 wood post cut 3.75” high
  • Sandpaper
  • Americana Acrylics in Primary Red, Foliage Green, Marigold, Buttermilk, Dark Chocolate, White Wash
  • Paintbrushes in assorted sizes
  • 3 Wooden spools
  • Paper Towel
  • Wood glue clear drying
  • Felt sheet green
  • Fabric scissors
  • Pencil

Instructions
 

  • Carefully cut a 4x4 post into 3 blocks, each measuring 3.75” high.
  • Paint the surface of each woodblock a different color: Primary Red, Foliage Green, Marigold and let dry fully before proceeding.
  • Paint the wooden spool in Dark Chocolate and wipe away the excess paint with a paper towel.
  • Using a pencil draw the outline of a half apple on one side of each woodblock.
  • Paint inside the lines in a Buttermilk color.
  • Lighten the buttermilk with 1 part white and paint the inside of the apple leaving just the center in solid Buttermilk.
  • With a fine point paintbrush, paint two apple seeds in the center.
  • When dry, sand down the edges to give each block a weathered look.
  • Apply a dab of glue to the center of the woodblock and press the spool into the glue.
  • Cut out three felt leaves using the printable leaf template.
  • Fold the rounded end of the leaf in half and glue it to the top of the woodblock.
