Using a medium sized paintbrush, apply chalky paint in red over the surface of one jar. Paint the other two jars in white chalky paint.

On the red jar, use the white paint pen to draw a small maple leaf in the center. Add swirls and polk-a-dots around the leaf to resemble fireworks. Repeat with the same design around the jar.

On one white jar, paint to wide horizontal stripes around the jar at the top and bottom in red chalky paint.

On the second white jar, place the maple leaf cutout on to the jar and trace the outline in pencil. Using a fine tip paintbrush, paint the maple leaf in red chalky paint.

Allow paint to dry fully.

Remove sealing discs and attach snap lids to all painted jars.

Fill the jars with paper straws and plastic cutlery for a Canada Day picnic.
