How to Paint Buffalo Plaid Pattern

Sharing the step by step tutorial for painting buffalo plaid on a flat surface.

Ingredients
  

  • Picture Frame
  • 5x7 Painting Canvas
  • Paint - Colours Optional We used DecoArt Americana Chalky Paint in Everlasting and Carbon
  • Paint Brushes
  • Painters Tape
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Cricut Joy with printable peel and stick stock
  • Preserved Leaves/Flowers

Instructions
 

  • Remove the backing and glass from the picture frame.
  • Using painters tape, tape off evenly spaced horizontal stripes onto a small canvas.
  • Mix black and white paint to create a grey colour and paint the exposed rows of the canvas. Let the paint dry.
  • Remove the painters tape and tape off evenly spaced columns on the canvas.
  • Paint the exposed columns with the same gray paint. Let dry.
  • Put back the rows of painters tape you previously removed, in the same spaces as before.
  • Paint the exposed squares with black paint. Let dry and then remove the tape to reveal the buffalo plaid design.
  • Using the Circut Joy, print out your own personalized fall message on adhesive vinyl.
  • Apply the fall message to the buffalo check.
  • Place the canvas into the frame.
  • Using a hot glue gun, glue preserved leaves and flowers to the frame.
