Ingredients

  • Making Tape
  • Floral wire
  • Paint in red, green, yellow, black
  • Paintbrushes
  • Clay pot
  • Floral foam
  • Scissors

Instructions

  • Cut several pieces of floral wire to 5-6″ long. Lay a piece of masking tape over top of one wire and wrap the masking tape over the top and press it together with the tape on the reverse side.
  • Paint both sides of the masking tape, 8 of the pieces with red paint and 4 pieces with green paint.
  • To add vein detail to the leaves, mix the red paint with a bit of yellow paint. Take a bit of the mixed paint and brush along the middle of the tape brushing outwards.
  • Repeat this with the green leaves by mixing green with a bit of black paint.
  • Once dry, trim off the corners making them all rounded and cut in a shape to resemble a poinsettia leaf. Repeat this step for all the leaves.
  • Put your red leaves together by wrapping the stems together, one at a time. Bend the leaves to face upwards. Continue doing this with the rest of the red leaves.
  • Next, add the green leaves underneath.
  • Finally, wrap floral tape around the stem covering the wire.
  • Insert the wire end into a small piece of floral foam inside the mini clay pot and your Christmas poinsettia is done!
