DIY Gold Votive Candle Holders

I love a simple DIY, something that is relatively quick, inexpensive and bonus points if it’s mess-free. That’s why we adore using glass jars in our crafts, anything from decoupaging with napkins on jars to make pretty floral vases to painting maple leafs for Canada Day picnic jars.

We used gold glitter paint for some of the jars and then solid gold metallic paint for the other. By using more in some jars and less in the other jars, we made them look similar yet not too “matchy-matchy”. And lastly, tieing a pretty gold ribbon around the top of the jars completes the look before placing these realistic looking LED lights inside.

How to Make Romantic Votive Candle Holders

Thoroughly wash jars with soap and hot water and let them dry completely before using. Working one jar at a time, squeeze a good amount of metallic gold paint inside the jar.

Adding gold paint to the bottom of the mason jars.

Gently roll the jar around so that the gold metallic paint spills on to the sides of the jar and coats it in gold. Continue until the bottom third of the inside of the jar is coated. Add more paint if needed.

Next, squeeze a good amount of glitter paint into the second jar and swirl it around until the sides are coated. Add more glitter paint if needed to fill the bottom half of the jar.

On the last jar, squeeze less glitter into the jar so just the bottom third of the jar is coated.

Allow the paint to dry completely, approximately 48 hours before using.

Once dry, tie a piece of gold ribbon around the next of the jar.
