Whether or not you actual celebrate the day, it gives us another great reason to craft. Using an old thrifted picture frame, a piece of cork and some colorful paints; we’ll show you how to make this St Patrick’s Day craft.
Upcycled Picture Frame Art
Over the years, we’ve accumulated a good number of picture frames that we’ve picked up at the thrift store and even garage sales. Although we rarely use them for photos, we really enjoy using them for crafting. Take this rock’n father’s day frame and this framed paper peony craft as a few examples. We also have this round up of creative uses for photo frames that’s pretty inspiring!
We used a sheet of cork to paint this fun rainbow with metallic paints but you can also use a different surface like a canvas, kraft board or thick cardstock.

How to Make this St Patrick’s Day Framed Art
Remove glass and picture frame backing and apply a coat of chalky paint in Fortune to the frame. Let it dry fully.
Once dry, apply a coat of white wax over the frame and rub excess off with a clean paper towel. Put aside to dry.
Prepare a sheet of cork to fit inside the photo frame, measure length and width, mark with pencil and cut.
Using a fine tip paintbrush, paint a puffy cloud on the lower left side of the cork sheet in white paint. Let dry and add an extra coat of paint if needed.
Using a mix of Extreme Sheen paints, paint a rainbow arch from the cloud to the upper left edge of the cork sheet.
Insert the finished cork back into the photo frame and replace the backing.
Style with some other St Patrick’s day decor and enjoy!
