Crafting a Welcome Sign with xTool
There’s something refreshing about swapping out seasonal décor, especially after the long greys of winter. This spring, I decided our front entry needed more than a quick sweep and a new doormat—it needed a proper welcome.

That’s where the xTool came in. I’d been itching to try a new project with it, and a custom welcome sign felt like the perfect excuse. There’s a kind of quiet satisfaction that comes from creating something from scratch, especially when it greets you (and anyone who visits) right at the front door.
Why You’ll Love This Craft
This project hits that sweet spot between creative freedom and guided structure.
- xTool makes it easy to cut out detailed shapes and letters.
- Whether you’re engraving floral designs, cutting out 3D lettering, or layering wood and acrylic, it gives a clean, professional finish that still feels handmade.
- You also get to decide how much detail to add—keep it simple with a few pastel blooms and a greeting, or go full spring explosion with butterflies, vines, and birds.
- It’s a project you can do in a weekend and get to admire for months. Bonus: it makes a great gift if you want to surprise someone with a little seasonal joy.

Spring-Themed Ways to Adapt This Craft
Spring is the perfect excuse to play with colour, texture, and light—and your welcome sign can reflect whatever part of the season speaks to you most. If florals are your thing, you can design layered daisies, tulips, or cherry blossoms with your xTool, either painted in soft pastels or left as raw wood for a more natural look. Try adding laser-cut greenery or little sprigs of leaves trailing around the edges. For a more playful take, add engraved or cut-out spring creatures—think bumblebees, butterflies, or birds perched on the lettering.

How to Craft a Spring Welcome Sign with xTool
Once all pieces are cut, paint each piece. Starting with the wood round, mix brown paint with a bit of water and paint the entire surface.

Paint the bunny ears and feet white.

Paint the middle surface with a green sage paint.

For the lettering, add pink and gold paint.

Glue the “Every Bunny” section onto the round background.

Attach the bunny ears to the top back of the circle so they peek out. And glue the bunny feet to the bottom, slightly sticking out for a cute 3D effect.

Attach the welcome lettering on top.

Finally, add embellishments like faux flowers and a bow to the sign.

Welcome to our Home
Making a welcome sign with the xTool isn’t just about crafting a pretty decoration—it’s about putting your own stamp on the season. It’s that reminder at the door that brighter days are here, and creativity doesn’t have to stay tucked inside.
Whether you’re an experienced maker or trying the xTool for the first time, this is the kind of project that’s easy to love and even easier to personalise. One afternoon of making, and you’ll have a custom sign that says more than just “welcome”—it says you made this.
