Fabulous Farmhouse Craft with Dollar Store Cow

Having farmhouse decorations and farmhouse crafts around the house creates a feeling of calm while also looking great. However, since farmhouse decor can be expensive, we enjoy making our own farmhouse crafting using supplies from the dollar store and thrift store to create beautiful are within a budget.

Farmhouse Crafting is fun and affordable!

There’s no denying that the farmhouse decor at stores can be expensive. Anything trendy seems to have a pricetag on it. Except if you DIY! We love not only doing DIY projects here but upcycling as well- taking something that could be recycled, but instead turning it into something even better. That is what we did here with this older picture frame. By adding other items to it that can be found at the dollar store, it all comes together for a beautiful painting.

What we love the most about this is that this farmhouse craft can really be hung any time of year. It doesn’t match a particular theme or season, so it can easily be made at any time- whether for your house or as a gift.

Another bonus is the colors that come together for this farmhouse craft. Of course, you can pick any colors that suit your house. However, by choosing the colors we have above and in the video, you can create this no matter what colors are in your house. This also makes a great gift for this reason as well- no need to match it with anything!

How to Make a Fabulous Farmhouse Craft with Dollar Store Cow

I shared the tutorial for making this farmhouse cow craft on a recent Facebook Live which you can catch here. All of the step by step instructions can be found in the video.

Begin by removing the glass from the picture frame and discarding it safely (won’t need it for this craft).

Using a brush, paint white all over the picture frame and the decorative cow. it’s best to keep the paint strokes uneven and distressed. No need for full coverage here. Allow paint to dry.

Add a checker pattern along the inside edges of the frame with a smaller flat paint brush and black paint. Allow paint to dry.

Paint the “farmhouse” lettering.

Glue the painted cow and farmhouse lettering on to the frame overlapping the edges.

Lastly, add diamond dust over the cow and farmhouse phrase to give her loads of sparkle and texture.
