Reversible Driftwood Wall Decor for Fall

We’re making a fun craft today with this reversible driftwood wall decor idea that combines natural elements found in nature with Fall crafting. You can even hang this decoration on your wall all season long by making one side for Fall and the reverse side all about Halloween!

Fall Wall Decor Idea

We collected these flatter pieces of driftwood from the beach one summer knowing they’d make great little door signs and beachy ornaments. Since the surface area is smooth, it’s easy to write phrases or words directly on to them. One year we even turned one of the larger driftwood pieces into a clock!

Now that you’ve seen the Fall side, check out the spooky and moody Halloween side. I like that this can be flipped over when it gets closer to Halloween and then flipped right back afterwards to enjoy until it’s time to deck the house full of Christmas decorations.

How to make Reversible Driftwood Wall Decor for Fall

Here is a step-by-step video of the reversible driftwood wall decor on our Facebook page! Or if you prefer the photo tutorial, continue reading below.

Sort out the pieces for the wall hanging and with a pencil, roughly write out the sayings on both sides of the driftwood pieces.

Working on one side at a time, paint the driftwood pieces in alternating colors. Wipe away the excess paint with a cloth to give the pieces more of a distressed and washed out look.

Paint the other side of the driftwood pieces using Halloween colours.

Once the driftwood pieces are dry, using white paint, paint your sayings on the driftwood pieces. One side for a Halloween theme, and the other side for a Fall theme.

Next take pre drilled acorns and run the twine through them so that they are spread according to the size of the driftwood pieces.

Using the hot glue gun, glue the twine to the driftwood pieces with the wooden spools in between each piece of driftwood.
