Creative Upcycled Angel Craft Idea

Angel craft ideas for Christmas are a lot of fun to make and for many a perfect way to celebrate and decorate for the season. And I must say, we really tapped in to our creative juices with this angel craft using an old, weathered fence post we found on the curb!

One of our Favourite Angel Craft Ideas for Christmas

Yes, that’s right I said and old fence post! When I recorded the Facebook live, I honestly told everyone that I did not know if this was going to be a great craft or a craft-fail. It’s always a bit of pressure on a live to see if the craft turns out well, but it did!

Back in the summer, I went to visit a friend for a family pool party. As we were going into their house, on the curb there were some pieces of wood. They seemed like they were parts of an old fence post and the minute I saw it, I knew it was coming home with me. To me, it resembled head and shoulders but that might just be me! I guess that is how a crafter’s mind works- some see the top of a fence post, but I see a potential angel!

The truth is, you can use any scrap wood that would work best for this project. Check around different places or maybe even the Facebook marketplace to try to find some scrap wood.

How to Make a Creative Upcycled Angel Craft

I shared the tutorial for this upcycled angel craft on a recent Facebook Live which you can catch here. All of the step-by-step instructions can be found in the video.

I started by attaching a base for the fence post to sit (in this case it was a 2″ thick piece of birch wood).

And then I created large, oversized wings using an old wire clothes hanger and white fluffy yarn. The wings are attached the back of the fence post.

Next, I dressed up the angel with some lace fabric scraps and hot glue and then glued on some twine hair on top.

And then last but not least, I added a gold wire halo and a pretty white bow at the neck.
