You don’t need to be an artist to make beautiful artwork when you can make your own one of a kind canvas stencil art. Using a detailed succulent stencil, I made this pretty piece of art for my home.

DIY Succulent Wall Art Painting
We are big fans of using stencils to make artwork and have shared a few different ways of using them over the years. Similar to this succulent canvas stencil art, we also shared this DIY Canvas art using a basketweave stencil and this modern painted table runner and even shared this project of using a stencil to update an old retro school chair.

The other thing we absolutely love are succulents, we used this same succulent stencil to make this creative stenciled hoop art but by using different colors and materials, it looks completely different!

- Americana Acrylics in Driftwood, Coral Blush, Salem Blue, Black Plum
- Dazzling Metallics in Festive Green
- Americana Decor Succulent Stencil
- Stencil Brush, size 8 and smaller
- Canvas, 8”x8”
- Medium size paint brush

Some Tips Before Starting:
- Protect your work surface from paint using a sheet of parchment paper.
- Don’t overload the stencil brush. Blot excess paint before applying to prevent the paint from seeping under the stencil edges.
- Allow paint to fully dry before adding another coat or changing colors.
- Remove stencil and let dry before reusing.
- Gently wash and dry stencils as needed throughout the project to prevent paint from drying on the stencil edges.
How to Make Stencil Art on Canvas
Paint the surface of the canvas in Driftwood and leave it to dry before moving on to the next step.

Position the floral stencil on to the upper middle left section of the canvas and using a stencil brush, dab the salem blue acrylic paint color over the stencil. Remove then stencil when it’s fully painted.
Next, position the small floral stencil on to the lower middle section of the canvas. Using a stencil brush, dab the dark plum acrylic paint color over the stencil and then remove.

This time, position the floral stencil on to the lower right section of the canvas. Using a stencil brush, dab the salem blue acrylic paint color over the stencil and remove.
Position the large floral stencil on to the middle right section of the canvas. Hold in place while applying coral blush color using a stencil brush and then remove.
Using a fine tip paint brush, smooth out any seeped edges in the matching color.

Position the leaf stencil on to the upper right corner just above the stenciled florals. Hold in place while applying festive green metallics color using a smaller sized stencil brush and then remove.
Repeat by adding more foliage to the lower left corner of the painted canvas.

Style and enjoy!

Am so glad this stenciled art piece caught my eye this morning. Trained in graphic arts but wasn't really great at it. And now age has my hand so unsteady, yet...I want to do something 'creative' and this might be it!
