Tumbling Block Pumpkins Craft
Creating seasonal decor that feels both handmade and timeless is always satisfying, and these tumbling block pumpkins tick every box. They have that rustic charm perfect for autumn, yet they’re simple enough to make in an afternoon.

If you’ve ever picked up a set of wooden tumbling blocks from the dollar store or grabbed an old Jenga set at a thrift shop, you already have most of what you need. Add some paint, hot glue, and a bit of imagination, and you’ll have a set of pumpkins that look right at home on a mantel or table display.
Why You’ll Like This Project
The best part is how versatile this project is! Here are just a few ideas:
- Make your pumpkins sleek and modern with matte white paint and gold stems
- Go classic with deep oranges and distressed edges for that farmhouse look.
- Customise the stems with small twigs, cinnamon sticks, or rolled burlap for texture and tie on a bit of raffia or a strip of ribbon.

This craft hits that sweet spot between relaxing and creative. It’s a nice break from screen time and gives you something tangible to show off at the end. And because the materials are so basic, you can experiment without worrying about wasting supplies.

- 9 tumbling blocks (we got ours from Dollar Tree)
- Wooden spool or cork (for the stem)
- Paint in teal, orange, white
- Rub n buff
- Paintbrushes
- Lace ribbon
- Glue gun

How to Make Tumbling Block Pumpkins
Start by painting 9 blocks with your chosen color and let dry.

Glue 3 blocks together, long sides touching. Next glue 2 blocks together and do that again. You should have 5 groups of blocks as pictured below.

Place the blocks upright and hot glue the 3 block and 2 block sections together, attaching them directly in the middle of the 3 blocks. Next, attach the single block in the middle of the 2 block section.

Repeat on the other side.

Hot glue a small wooden spool or cork on the center top.

Using a paint brush, take a small amount of Rub n Buff and use it on the edges of the blocks.

Finally, tie a small bow with lace and trim. Glue to the top of the pumpkin.

Repeat with different colors to make more DIY Jenga block pumpkins!

Charming Ways to Display Your Tumbling Block Pumpkins
Tumbling block pumpkins work beautifully in so many settings. A few small ones grouped together make a lovely autumn vignette on a coffee table or bookshelf. Larger versions can fill a dough bowl with pinecones and faux leaves for a cosy table display. They also look charming lined up along a mantel or windowsill, especially when paired with candles or fairy lights.
If you’re hosting a dinner, try using mini versions as place settings—just tie a name tag around the stem. They’re also a thoughtful handmade gift for anyone who loves seasonal decor.
