A DIY Magnetic Board from an Upcycled Cookie Sheet

Our family openly, yet lovingly jokes about the way our mom regularly re-purposes items in her home, like when she turns her empty yogurt containers into flower pots or like when she turns her broom handle into a garden post. Well it seems as though the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.  I think she would be very impressed with the way I turned an old cookie sheet into this DIY magnetic board.

Many delicious cookies were made with this old cookie sheet and it was beyond time for a replacement. Proudly, I found a new practical and decorative use for it. Using materials I found around the house, I created this magnetic board for literally no cost. I used a matte black spray paint and suede lace ties but you can also use any paint color and ribbon to achieve a different look. I’ve happily hung this magnetic board in my craft room to display my favourite photos, artwork, inspiring quotes and project ideas. You can also make your own colorful easy painted rocks turned bird magnets to go along with this magnetic board or any magnetic surface in your home. I’m thinking of all the other kinds of cookie sheets out there, like one particular heart-shaped sheet I have. That would look adorable as a magnetic board too!

Recently, I added this farmhouse inspired DIY memo board to my craft room. I’m feeling more organized by the minute with my craft room slowly coming together.
