Adorable Family Tree Craft with Painted Owl Rocks

Show off the members of your family with this adorable family tree craft using painted owl pebbles on a wooden tree cutout and mounted on a picture frame.

A Fun Family Tree Craft for the Whole Family

You can easily assemble your own supplies to make this craft at home or alternatively, we also offer the complete kit in our Sustain My Crat Habit shop.

Materials needed to make a painted owl family tree craft including a wood canvas, stones, paint, paintbrushes, laser cutout and wood beads.

How to Make an Adorable Family Tree Craft with Painted Owl Rocks

Mix equal parts water and brown paint to create a “stain”. Paint the wood frame with the stain and let dry.

Staining the frame of the wood canvas.

Use the brown stain to paint the tree bark. Create a green stain and apply to leaves. Let dry.

Glue the white canvas into the frame. Glue the painted tree on the canvas.

Roll the wood beads in green stain to dye them. Wipe off excess and let dry. String together onto twine then tie to eyelets.

Make a bow with the ribbon and glue to top left corner of frame. Add in greenery.

Arrange the painted owl pebbles amongst the tree leaves.

And that’s it! Your family tree craft is complete and ready to be displayed. Hang it on the wall, or mount it on a bookcase or gift it to someone you love. It would reall make a sweet gift giving idea for grandparents over the holidays!

Materials
  

  • 8”x8" Framed canvas
  • Eyelets
  • Painted owl rocks
  • laser-cut wood tree
  • Paints in brown and green
  • Paint brushes
  • Embellishments Ribbon, greenery, wood beads, twine
  • Hot glue gun with clear craft glue
  • Paint mixing tray and water

Instructions
 

  • Mix equal parts water and brown paint to create a “stain”. Paint the wood frame with the stain and let dry.
  • Use the brown stain to paint the tree bark. Create a green stain and apply to leaves. Let dry.
  • Glue the white canvas into the frame. Glue the painted tree on the canvas.
