Easy Peasy Owl Rock Painting Craft

Looking for an easy peasy owl rock painting craft to make? Well you’ve come to the right place with this step by step tutorial, turning simple rocks and pebbles into adorable painted owls.

Use these painted owl rocks to make more crafts like a pebble owl family tree or simply scatter them throughout your house or garden.

Adorable and EASY Owl Rock Painting

If you were to search up owl rock painting online you would likely find an assortment of images many of which are more elaborate and detailed painted owls. What I love about ours is that it’s so simple and easy that it can even be made with younger kids if you have them.

Using just a few supplies and paint colors, these adorable painted owl rocks come together. You can use any size of rock or pebble to make this craft. In our case, we used pebbles that are about the size of a quarter.

Materials needed to make owl painted rocks including stones, pain and paintbrushes.

How to Make Owl Painted Rocks

Mix a bit of black paint into some white to create a light grey. Paint the rocks with the light grey and let dry.

Painting stones grey.

Create a darker shade of grey and paint wings on the sides of the stones. Let dry.

Adding grey to the edges of the stones.

Paint two large white circles for eyes. Let dry.

Adding white circles for eyes.

Add two black dots in the eyes (a bit towards the center). With the back of the brush add a couple of white spots to the top right of each eye.

Dabbing white paint to the owl rock eyes.

Add a little diamonds shaped orange beak and small orange ovals for feet.

And just like that, in a few simple steps, the painted owl rocks are complete! Aren’t they adorable?

Materials
  

  • Small smooth stones
  • Acrylic paint in black, white, orange
  • Fine point paint brush

Instructions
 

  • Mix a bit of black paint into some white to create a light grey. Paint the rocks with the light grey and let dry.
  • Create a darker shade of grey and paint wings on the sides of the stones. Let dry.
  • Paint two large white circles for eyes. Let dry.
  • Add two black dots in the eyes (a bit towards the center). With the back of the brush add a couple of white spots to the top right of each eye.
  • Add a little diamonds shaped orange beak and small orange ovals for feet.
  • Use a darker shade of grey to add lines to wings and small ears to top of the head.
