Learning How to Make a Double Bow For a Wreath Is Easier Than You Think!
Here at Sustain My Craft Habit, we are lovers of the double bow! There is something about using a double bow that makes a bow appear bigger and bolder for the crafts that we do. Learning how to make a double bow can be great for wreaths, but they can also be great for any type of project that you are working on.
The example we used when teaching how to make a double bow is this fun buffalo check fall sign that says, “Happy Fall Y’all!” We thought that a polka-dot double bow on the side would be perfect for this. You can find the video that teaches you how to do the buffalo checks here if you would like to create the fall craft project.
We placed the step-by-step instructions below on how to create a double bow. You can follow along as you make this exact craft, or you can pick another. We cannot wait to see what you create!

- Wide 2” ribbon (with or without wire), this is the one we used here: burlap ribbon with polka dots
- Scissors
- Floral wire, cut to 2” long
How to Make a Double Bow
First, cut the ribbon to 30” long.
Fold one end of the ribbon at about 9” from the end.
Pinch the ribbon 6” from the end together with the folded 3” loop.
Fold the long end making another 3” loop and pinch together in the center.
Next, fold the long end making a smaller 2” loop, and pinch them together in the center.
Lastly, fold the ribbon again making another 2” loop, and pinch it all together in the center.
Secure the center with the wire to hold the double bow in place. Trim off the excess wire if not needed.
