Making Pine Cone Flowers for Halloween

With Halloween just upon us, Jane suggested I make a bouquet of pine cone flowers in orange, black and white colors. Well obviously I thought it was a great idea, so I quickly gathered up the same supplies I used to make these beautiful pine cone roses along with some other Halloween-themed paint colors and away I went.

DIY Pine Cone Flowers

Neither my sister nor I are big Halloween decorators. But when it’s using materials from nature such as pine cones or a way to upcycle something around the house like this candy tin pumpkin decor idea, or using rocks to create the cutest mini DIY Halloween terrarium, I get pretty excited for the orange and black holiday.

I painted a bouquet of pink pine cone roses back in the spring – they turned out so beautifully and are one of the most popular projects here on the blog.

Now, I’m quite amazed at how much I love the look of these painted pine cones in black, especially with the translucent glitter tips. They instantly become elegant yet moody and mysterious.

These pine cone flowers will be the focal point of my Halloween centerpiece for the next month or so. And what’s even greater is that I’ll be able to pack them away and bring them out again every Halloween from now on.

Hi Gladys, I few drops of essential oils (after painting if you plan to do so) should do the trick. Here are a couple great fall scented blends (our Amazon referral link): https://amzn.to/2GxXdx8 . Hope that helps, Jane
