Capture the beauty of your favourite floral on a set of flower painted rocks and bring touches of color and cheer to your home and garden.
Zinnia Flower Painted Rocks
Ever since we shared how to make painted rocks using a grape hyacinth design, sunflower painted rocks as well as these daisy painted rocks, we’ve been pretty excited to make more flower painted rocks. These zinnia inspired rocks have the perfect amount of colour and cheer for us to enjoy!
With all the painted rocks we have scattered around our homes, you could definitely say we have a small obsession. From shark painted rocks to mandala-inspired heart rocks and everything in between, we have all the inspiration you need on our painted rock project gallery.
And if you have a rock painting friend, why not create a rock painting craft kit for them?

How to make flower painted rocks:
Before you get started, wash rocks and let them dry completely prior to painting. Repeat each of the following steps as needed for additional coverage. And as you paint, allow paint to fully dry between steps and when changing to a new color.
Painting a Pink Zinnia Flower Rock
Mix orchid color with a small amount of black color and paint a small dot in the center of the rock.
Paint 4 long petals in orchid then paint another 4 long petals in orchid. Next, paint the last 4 petals in orchid as shown to have a total of 12 petals per flower.
Using a very fine tip paint brush, dip the paint brush in summer squash and add small dots around the center dot. Continue to work around in a circle for about 3 rows or until you achieve the desired look.
Painting a Yellow Zinnia Flower Rock
Mix summer squash color with small amount of black and paint a small dot in the center of the rock.
Paint 4 long petals in Summer Squash then another 4 long petals in Summer Squash. Next, paint the last 4 petals in summer squash as shown to have a total of 12 petals per flower.
Paint the lower half of each petal in magenta color. Using a very fine tip paint brush, dip the paint brush in summer squash and add small dots around the center dot. Continue to work around in a circle for about 3 rows or until you achieve the desired look.
Painting a Purple Zinnia Flower Rock
Mix magenta with small amount of black and paint a small dot in the center of the rock.
Paint 4 long petals in magenta then another 4 long petals in magenta. Next, paint the last 4 petals in magenta as shown to have a total of 12 petals per flower.
Using a very fine tip paint brush, dip the paint brush in summer squash color and add small dots around the center dot. Continue to work around in a circle for about 3 rows or until you achieve the desired look.
And there you have it, that’s all it takes to make beautiful flower painted rocks. I have these lovely painted flowers placed throughout my garden for a pop of color in between the flowers blooming and even all winter long.

These are beautiful! Do you have to apply a protective clear sealer if leaving outside year round?
