This birdhouse art craft may be a little bit out there but oh-so sweet nonetheless. Starting with a piece of driftwood collected off of the beach and some other supplies from our craft room, we made this one-of-a-kind decorative birdhouse wall hanging. What are your thoughts on this latets craft?
Crafting with Nature to Make Birdhouse Art
Wanting to make a something for a recent FB Live video but not knowing what is how my sister and I first started off with this craft. All we had in front of us was some driftwood pieces and a little felt bird I had recently made. Since we thought one of the driftwood pieces looked like a birdhouse, we decided to just roll with that idea.
And I’m glad we did because in the end, we made this sweet birdhouse art piece that also functions as a keyholder for my front hallway. These arethe step-by-step instructions for making a similar birdhouse craft but you can also find the video on our Sustain My Craft Habit Facebook page.
- Drill pilot hole into bottom of driftwood and screw the cup hook in to the pilot hole to use as a key holder.
- Next, apply the hanging hardware to tbhe back side of the driftwood piece by pre-drilling a pilot hole and then screwing in a d-ring.
- Starting on the back, glue the sisal rope end to the driftwood and start wrapping the rope around the top of the driftwood until the upper portion is fully covered. Paint the sisal rope in a metallic paint for some contrast.

- Glue the large wooden button on to the lower portion of the driftwood.
- Laslty, glue the bird on to the top of the perch.
