Hi creative friends! It can’t get much simpler than this clothespin craft using natural wood clothespins and some pretty painted pinecone flowers. Sometimes the best things in life are the simple things.

Crafting with Clothespins

Now that these are finished, they remind me of pretty hair berets with the soft pink painted pinecones. Pinecone flowers are made from regular pinecones but trimmed down to a smaller size opening them up like a blooming flower. We offer these types of pinecone flowers in our Etsy shop which you can check out here but you can of course make your own at home. We’ll show you just how in the instructions below!

How to Make Pretty Pinecone Clothespin Craft

If you’ve gathered your own pine cones to use for this craft, be sure to clean them first. Learn how to clean pinecones for crafting here.

Once cleaned, use gardening shears to trim off the top half of the pinecone leaving just the lower half. This lower half will resemble a flower.

And as I mentioned above, we also have natural, unpainted pinecone flowers in a variety of shapes and sizes in our Etsy shop.

Using a fine tip paint brush, add paint to the petals of the pinecone flower. Leave the center of the pinecone unfinished. Mix a few different shades of pink to repeat for other pinecone flowers.

Preheat glue gun and then secure the underside of the pinecone flower to the clothespin. Leave enough room at the top for a prettied decorative bow.

And with that, the pretty pinecone flower decorative clothespins are complete! I love clipping these to my wire baskets an using them to hold a greeting card on to a gift bag.
