Looking for ways to save time doing laundry? Using the EasyPress Mini to create this fun sock matching hack is one way to quickly check off those pesky housekeeping to-do’s.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

A “Puzzling” Sock Matching Hack

Seeing the new Cricut EasyPress Mini was the inspiration I needed to come up with this sock matching hack. With it’s compact size, it’s the perfect tool to use for embellishing small and uncommon objects, such as shoes, hats and of course, socks!

Although I already have the larger EasyPress 2, this mini sized EasyPress is ideal for those hard to reach spots like sleeve cuffs or jean pockets and for smaller project ideas like embellishing kid’s socks.

Having four kids under the age of 12, you can imagine the piles of clothes that seem to never end. So for my personal sanity and to get the kids gets involved, I enlist their help with sorting and folding laundry.

With heaps of identical colored knee high socks all ranging in size and length, this iron-on color coded puzzle piece idea is a fun way to quicken the sorting of laundry. It helps ensure the right sized socks are paired together which indirectly helps speed up morning routines. The kids simply find the matching puzzle piece to get the right sock!

Materials Needed for this Sock Matching Hack:

Using the Cricut Maker to Cut Puzzle Shaped Glitter Iron-On Vinyl:

Upload the puzzle piece project template in Design Space.

Select Make It.

Prepare the glitter iron-on vinyl in any color of your choosing and place it on the standard grip mat with the shiny side down.

Select continue and choose glitter iron-on vinyl from the materials list.

Proceed with cutting out the vinyl and once all the puzzle pieces are cut, peel away the excess vinyl.

Using a pair of scissors, cut the plastic holding the two puzzle pieces together separating them into separate heat transfers.

How To Use the EasyPress Mini:

Following the Heat Guide, select the material type and set the Cricut EasyPress Mini to the required setting.

Once the EasyPress Mini is preheated, apply heat for 5 seconds to the area of the sock that will have the puzzle piece heat pressed to.

Place the puzzle piece in the desired location.

Tape it down using heat transfer tape but avoid covering the heat transfer with the tape.

Following the instructions for a polyester base, apply the Easy Press Mini onto the puzzle piece for 25 seconds, with medium pressure and constant movement.

Turn sock around and press the back side in the same manner for 15 seconds.

Peel off the plastic covering while still warm. Continue with the matching pair and then switch to the other colored puzzle pieces for the remaining socks.

I was amazed at how easy AND effective the EasyPress Mini was to use. With 3 heat settings, the how-to steps using the Heat Guide couldn’t be any simpler. And actually it’s way more portable than my iron and creaky, cumbersome ironing board!

As I was working on these DIY felt flowers over the weekend, the EasyPress Mini came in handy for removing all the creases in the felt sheets. Which reminded me of our round up of 10 projects you didn’t know you could make with a Cricut EasyPress.

I don't know any kid that would want to wear these. In our house, each kid got a different brand of sock. That's how they knew whose was whose.

Thanks for your comment. Since our kids wear the same uniform to school, that includes matching white knee highs so for us the labelling really helps.
