If you want to create a shadow box house, nothing is cozier than this “home sweet home” Christmas house. Don’t you feel a bit warm and snug simply by looking at it?

A wonderful shadow box house for the Christmas season

Most of us love the time of year where we can snuggle by the warm fireplace on our couch or a chair, and look at the stockings hung on the mantle. Even if you don’t have a fireplace, we know that warm fuzzy feeling we get when we have an opportunity to do so.

We wanted to create that wonderful feeling to match “the most wonderful time of year,” so we came up with this fun shadow box house craft. Besides the shadow box house itself and the paint, most of the items you can find nearby or around the house. You can do the details how you’d like as you follow our instructions below.

How to Make a Shadow Box Shelf Christmas House Craft

Start by painting your wooden house shadow box with white chalky paint.

Cut a piece of cardboard into a square and paint a black arch for the fireplace. Next, dab yellow and orange paint to create a glowing fire.

Hot glue pebbles around the unpainted cardboard to finish your fireplace.

Mix brown paint with water to make a stain and then paint your miniature rocking chair and driftwood piece with the stain.

Cut and then position a few craft sticks together on a flat surface and glue another stick over top to form a little sign. Paint, decorate and write “home sweet home” on the front.

Finish by hot gluing the fire place, mantle, rocking chair and other embellishments onto the wooden house to create a cozy house setting.
