Silver Platter Art- Upcycling Fun!

Let’s be real: adding a bunny to any craft makes it automatically cuter. There’s no question about it. Some of us like to add bunnies on crafts simply for Easter time, but they are wonderful to have year-round as well. Who doesn’t smile when looking at a bunny?

This is a great project to do if you love budget art too because silver platters are easy to find at thrift stores. It shouldn’t take long to find the “picture-perfect” one. Besides that, all you’ll need are decorative bunny napkins and a few other small items.

Once you make one or two, you’ll get the hang of this and can easily make thoughtful handmade gifts for springtime. These also make great housewarming gifts.

How to Make Silver Platter Bunny Art

I shared the tutorial for making this bunny art on a YouTube video which you can catch here. Or if you prefer the photo tutorial, continue reading below.

Cut out the bunny design from your paper napkin and remember to separate the two plies of napkin using just the top layer.

Cutting a bunny out of a napkin.

Paint the bottom half of the silver tray in chalky paint and give the paint enough time to dry.

Next, apply a layer of Mod Podge to the area that will be covered with the bunny cut out. Then place the cut out bunny over top of the Mod Podge and carefully press in place. I love to use my EasyPress Mini to heat seal the napkin in place and give the decoupage a really smooth surface.

Trace out a large oversized umbrella shape out of the corrugated cardboard. Glue the umbrella cut out on to the silver platter above the bunny. Add a stick or wooden skewer for the umbrella handle and add some ribbon for a decorative touch.

Continue adding more embellishments to the piece until your happy with the look! I add a little bow to the bunny as well as some pretty faux floral bunches to the top of the silver platter.

And now for the final piece – an adorable bunny-themed silver platter decoration.
