Tips, Variations & Troubleshooting

Variations

You can make these plant pot bells in classic gold, frosty silver, bright red, or rustic matte white. Metallic spray paint gives the most realistic “bell” look, while chalk paint creates a softer farmhouse style. Try mixing pot sizes for a tiered hanging display or making mini versions for the tree.

Size & Colour Options

Dollar Tree usually stocks small, medium, and large planters. The medium pots work best for front door décor, while the smaller ones suit indoor garlands. If you want a vintage brass effect, layer bronze and gold spray paint, then lightly brush on black acrylic for depth.

Troubleshooting

If your paint streaks, give the pot a quick light sanding before the next coat. If the ribbon slips, a dab of hot glue holds everything in place. For clappers that swing too much, shorten the string slightly so they sit in the centre without hitting the pot edges too often.
