This rich DIY sugar scrub recipe with coffee and mandarin essential oils is so easy and quick to make that you’ll want to make them in batches wrapped as gifts around the holidays.
Easy Mandarin Orange and Coffee DIY Sugar Scrub
With Christmas just around the corner, the homemade gift making theme for this month’s Simply Earth Recipe Box couldn’t be more appropriate!
The box is filled with plenty of goodies and recipe cards for making six unique and useful projects intended for gift giving. From a Christmas Candy Diffuser Blend, to a Candy Cane Lip Balm, a Citrus Christmas Room Spray, a Peppermint and Pine Salve and a Cold Buster Roll on, there are plenty of gifts and stocking stuffers to go around.
The box will put you right into the festive spirit with 4 full sized pure essential oils including cooling peppermint, classic pine scotch, sweet mandarin and, my favourite, candy cane essential oil blend.
And as a bonus treat, the box also includes simple gift tags and containers for making homemade gift giving a breeze.
To make the coffee sugar scrub I also needed to use some ingredients from the Big Bonus Box we received when we first signed up with Simply Earth. Use our coupon code SMCHFREE to get your own Big Bonus Box with your first order. You’ll also get a $40 e-gift card which you can use towards a future purchase.
And if you’re running low on ground coffee beans, you can also make this soothing lavender sugar scrub as another DIY option.
Although this month’s box was themed around the holidays, a lot of the DIY projects from previous month’s recipe boxes would also make wonderful homemade gifts, such as these cassia and orange scented candles, this skin healing DIY body butter and these DIY glycerin soaps.
Ingredients Needed to Make a Coffee Sugar Scrub:
- 1/4 cup Coconut Oil (solid)
- 1 tbsp Fractionated Coconut Oil
- 15 drops Mandarin essential oil
- ½ cup Ground Coffee Beans
- ½ cup sugar
- Small jar or air-tight container
How to Make Mandarin and Coffee Sugar Scrub:
Melt solid coconut oil in a microwave (go slowly, in 15 second increments).
Once the oil has just melted, add fractionated coconut oil.
Next, add 15 drops of mandarin essential oil and stir to combine.
Add ground coffee beans and sugar and stir until fully incorporated.
Place the mixture into an airtight container and store for up to 6 weeks in a cool, dry location.
When using, apply a small amount of the mixture in your hands and rub in a circular motion on wet skin to exfoliate. Allow the scrub to sit on the skin for about 10 minutes before rinsing off.
As these coffee sugar scrubs are best used within 6 weeks, I plan to make more batches for friends closer to the holidays so they too can enjoy.
Simply Earth’s Essential Oils Recipe Box makes a great gift idea! For $39 the recipient will receive the Recipe Box, Big Bonus Box and a $40 e-gift card to put towards a future month’s recipe box. They’ll love you forever 😀 .
