Scrappy DIY Valentine’s Day Cards
Scrappy DIY Valentine’s Day cards are not only a great way to use what you already have, but they also really thoughtful and charming!
If your craft stash is overflowing with leftover paper scraps, odd bits of ribbon, random buttons, and washi tape you swore you’d use—this is the project for you!
Scrappy DIY Valentine’s Day cards are not only a great way to use what you already have, but they also bring back the charm of handmade cards that feel thoughtful and real.

No need to buy a pack of generic cards when you can create one-of-a-kind pieces that say exactly what you want. Whether you’re crafting with kids, sending love to friends and family, or just enjoying a quiet afternoon of cutting and gluing, this is a fun, low-pressure way to get into the Valentine’s spirit.
Why You’ll Love Making These Cards
There’s no right or wrong with scrappy cards—and that’s half the fun.
- Every card turns out unique, and you don’t need to be a pro to make them look amazing. The beauty is in the mix of textures, patterns, and tiny unexpected details. Use whatever’s on hand: scrapbook paper, book pages, fabric scraps, lace trim, stickers, or even recycled packaging.
- You can go cute and colorful or stick to a more vintage or minimal style. It’s all up to you.
- And because you’re repurposing materials, it’s a frugal and eco-friendly way to celebrate.

A Sweet Card For A Special Person
These cards are perfect for personal, heartfelt notes. Slip one into a lunchbox or jacket pocket for a surprise. Add them to Valentine’s gift baskets, tuck one under a neighbor’s door, or mail them to faraway friends. They also make sweet teacher cards or can be paired with a small gift like a hot chocolate sachet or mini candle. Want to use them around the house? Create a mini garland by clipping several cards along a string, or frame your favorites as seasonal decor. They’re too pretty to hide away.

How to Make Scrappy Valentine’s Day Cards
Start with a blank card and glue a slightly smaller piece of paper to the front of the card.

To make a heart take a piece of decorative paper, fold in half with the printed side inward. Use a pencil to draw a half heart along the folded edge. Cut along the line and unfold. Adjust the heart if needed.

Next, take a paper doily and cut out the lace part. Using your finger or a small brush, lightly apply Rub ‘n Buff to raised areas of the doily.

Glue the doily to the front of the card.

Add glue to your heart and glue on top of the doily.

Continue layering with scrap paper or other embellishments until you’re happy with the look.

Make as many cards as you like!
