Hanukkah is such a busy time of year! While it is festive and fun, there’s so much to do and so little time to do it. Instead of stressing about Hanukkah decoration ideas, how about creating your own? DIY decorations are not only fun to make, but they can also save you money.

You can make these decorations before people come to visit to add a little Hanukkah pizazz to your place. Or you can do this DIY activity with your family and loved ones when they come to visit. No matter what, they will be fun to make!

Materials needed to make Hannukah decorations including mason jar, ruler, scissors, vinyl and faux flowers.

How to Craft Hanukkah Decorations with Jars

Thoroughly wash jars with soap and hot water and let them dry completely before using. Additionally, use rubbing alcohol and a clean paper towel to wipe away any prints or smudges.

Using a ruler, measure and mark three rectangles 3” high x ½” wide in blue glitter vinyl. Cut rectangles with scissors keeping edges straight.

Using a ruler, measure and mark two rectangles 3” high x ½” wide in silver glitter vinyl. Cut rectangles with scissors keeping edges straight.

Using a ruler, measure and mark two rectangles 2 1/2” high x ½” wide in blue shimmer vinyl. Cut rectangles with scissors keeping edges straight.

Using a ruler, measure and mark two rectangles 2 1/2” high x ½” wide in silver shimmer vinyl. Cut rectangles with scissors keeping edges straight.

Cut nine equally sized flames that are ½” wide in gold glitter vinyl. You can also use your Cricut cutitng machine to cut out these shapes with percision. But crafting doesn’t have to be perfect so we chose to keep it simple by using a pair of scissors.

Starting in the center, remove the backing and position the longer blue rectangle above the “BERNARDIN” logo.

Working from the center outward, begin adhering the remaining vinyl rectangles on either side of the center. Maintain even spacing on either side. 

Next, adhere the gold glitter vinyl flames above each of the rectangles resembling candles.

Tie a simple ribbon around the neck of the jar and place pretty white faux florals inside.
