So when we were thinking about making something unique for Easter to hang on our front door, we immediately thought about using up some of our pinecones. What better way to update them for spring than by painting them? We went with pretty pastel shades in pink, purple, green, yellow and white.

The moment we started painting them they came to life! The soft pastel shades completely changes the look of them. Plus, you don’t need any special type of paint. Use whatever you have on hand.

How to Make Easter Door Decor with Pinecones

Place pinecones on a sheet of parchment paper and paint each pinecone in a different color of pastel colored paint. Let the paint dry fully.

Drill a small pilot hole at the bottom of each pine cone. Insert a piece of wire loop. You can also add a bit of hot glue or wood glue to hold the wire in place if needed.

Cut twine pieces approx 25” long.

Fasten the end of the twine through the loop on each pinecone, staggering the lengths of the twine.

Create a large hanging loop with the other ends of the twine.

Create a large double bow and secure it just below the large hanging loop at the top.
