While I didn’t used to be a big “jewelry person” I do love to wear a necklace when I dress up for work and other events that require more than my pijamas!

As soon as I saw it, I fell completely in love with this painted wood bead necklace that Sonja made. Luckily I didn’t have to give too many hints for her to let me have it! The pretty colors of the beads themselves, along with the “splashes” of gold made it so pretty and modern.

Working one bead at a time, roll the bead over top of the 24K Gold paint one time.

Using a pair of wire cutters, cut the chain at 30” long.

Complete the wooden beaded necklace by attaching magnetic fasteners to the chain ends using necklace links.

And there you go, a glamorous, one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry idea to enjoy. Luckily Sonja gifted me this piece – I get compliments on it each time I wear it!

I do have to say that the wood beads do add a bit of weight to the necklace and sometime the magnetic clasp pops open. You might consider a stronger closure for your handmade necklace, such as a lobster clasp.
