Weekend at the Cottage: 6 Rustic DIY Inspiration Projects
Take a stroll through our parents’ rustic property filled with creative DIY ideas!
We were fortunate to be able to spend this past long weekend (in Canada it was the Victoria Day long weekend, otherwise affectionately known as May 2-4) at the cottage. This serene oasis in the country, on the shores of Lake Huron has been our family get-away from the city for almost three decades.

This particular weekend, as we roamed around the property, we were reminded of where our creative and crafty side comes from: our parents. They were masters of the DIY (check out these 70+ budget DIY project ideas) before it was even cool to do so. Here’s a little gallery of some of their fun creations. We’ve even convinced them to recreate some of them for tutorials for future blog posts.

And with the gorgeous blooms around us, we couldn’t help but take pictures of the flowers to share! We remembered to collect some to make pressed flower crafts.

We’d love to have fresh tulips year-round but these DIY felt tulips are a nice option until that’s possible.

The daffodils are one of my favorite spring flowers. We preserved some a few years ago and made pretty daffodil resin paperweights!

This dewy spider web inspired this Halloween watercolor art idea!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of our parent spring garden. In a few short months mom’s flower garden will be in full glorious bloom!
