It’s easier than you think! How to decoupage on wood
If you are looking this up, most likely there is a specific item that is making you want to learn how to decoupage on wood.
The example above (and in our Facebook live below) is a beautiful box that holds a lot of meaning. The wood box you see actually held a set of wine glasses I received for her wedding. Who knew that our mom would hold onto it all these years?! Yet that is exactly what happened. Our mom has held on to it for not only a couple of years, but almost 20 years! I decided to give it a makeover so that my mom can use it to hold receipts. Because let’s face it- a cute box of receipts is much better than a shoebox!
Many of us have memorabilia from our past that would be great for upcycling. Upcycling simply means recycling something to make it into something new or better. If you don’t have anything on your mind, take some time to look around your storage to see if anything could be used to learn how to decoupage on wood.

How to Decoupage on Wood
I shared the tutorial for decoupaging this wooden box on a recent Facebook Live which you can catch here. All of the step by step instructions can be found in the video.
On the front of the wood box, I glued several small pieces of driftwood. And seeings how my mom lives right by the lake, this was the perfect finishing touch!
The inside of the wooden box was finished the same as the outside – with a layer of decoupage. It’s such a pretty floral pattern that I was tempted to add to every surface in sight!
