I often DIY so I can create decor exactly how I would like it. Looking for a cardinal wreath, for example, we may only find a handful that is similar to what we are looking for. That means we have to find one that is close enough to what we imagined. But what if you could make a cardinal wreath DIY-style that is exactly how you envisioned it? That is what we want to help you make today!
Cardinals are such beautiful creatures and I’ve even heard the saying “when cardinals appear, angels are near”. There are many people that believe that seeing a cardinal is a sign of good luck or good things coming. Whether that is or not, they are wonderful birds that are great on a wreath. The best part is that this wreath would be great for Christmas, but could be used year-round as well! No need to keep changing out your wreaths.

Materials Needed

- 12-14” wire wreath form
- Eastern white pinecones, approx 150-175 (we sell pinecones in our Etsy shop here)
- Felt cardinal birds (make your own with this DIY felt bird printable pattern)
- Spray paint (in white)
- Faux berry clusters
- Hot glue gun
- Pail or large bowl filled with water
How to Make a Pinecone Wreath with Cardinals
To start, follow our step by step tutorial to make a pinecone wreath without wire or glue.
Spray paint the pinecones lightly with white for frosted look after the pinecones have fully dried. Allow the paint to dry fully before adding any embellishments such as felt cardinals and faux berries.
Embellishing the Pinecone Wreath
To make your own felt cardinal birds, head over to our post on making felt birds with printable patterns.
Then, glue cardinals directly on to wreath and add cut faux berry clusters with a hot glue gun.
