Gorgeous DIY Shadow Box Housewarming Gift

DIY housewarming gifts are a beautiful way to show someone that you were thinking of them during their time of transition. This is one option you may want to consider using gorgeous dried floral blooms inside a rustic shadow box.

DIY Housewarming Gifts Are Thoughtful!

We had a fall flannel crafting event, where the goal was to create a crafty and fun fall creation! I had the shadowbox, but I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to use it. I also had a flannel-looking ribbon, so I knew I was going to use that as part of the craft.

That is when the DIY housewarming gift came into play. When someone moves into a new home, it is so thoughtful to bring a housewarming gift. I don’t know about you, but I never know what to bring. I know many people bring a house plant or a bottle of wine, and those are great housewarming gifts. However, I always want to make sure to bring something unique. This is why I love this thoughtful gift idea.

How to create gorgeous DIY housewarming gifts

You can watch the video for how this shadow box craft came together here on our facebook page or for the step by step photo instructions, keep reading below.

Start by removing the glass portion of the shadow box and taping the printed quote on the reverse side of the glass. Trace the quote with a white paint pen and leave the paint to dry fully.

Begin placing the cut zinnia blooms inside the shadow box with the blooms budding up close to each other.

Look how pretty these dried zinnias look!

To keep the blooms in place, crumple up pieces of white paper and press them gently up against the backs of the flowers, sandwiching the paper between the back of the box and the backs of the blooms.

Close up the shadow box and take a look at the placement making sure you like the arrangement.

And lastly, I added the flannel bow to the upper corner of the shadow box. If you need help making a bow, check out our post here for the step by step messy bow-making instructions or this post for making a double bow with ribbon.
